Change of soloist
. A change of soloist has been made for the Royal Christchurch Musical Society’s first subscription concert in the Town Hall, on August 2. Heather Taylor, who had been engaged as soprano soloist, has been released by the society so that she can take part in the New Opera Company’s Wellington production of “The Marriage of Figaro,” which will be playing at the same time as the concert. The R.C.M.S. has engaged a Wellington soprano, Pauline Fitchett, to replace her.
The concert subtitled “An evening in Vienna,” will feature music by Haydn and Mozart. Miss Fitchett will sing the motet “Exultate Jubilate,” and “Laudate Dominum,” by Mozart, and will be soprano soloist in the main work, Haydn’s “Nelson Mass.” Also featured on the programme will be the Christchurch violinist Belinda Bunt who will play Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5 in A.
