DATSUNS MOSTLY CHECKED

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 30. The police have checked more than 200 of the 260 orange Datsun stationwaggons in New Zealand—and are still seeking a man seen with the 18-year-old Hamilton hitch-hiker, Miss Mona Blades, over Queen’s Birthday Week-end. The theory that the man might have been John Walton Freeman, who shot himself after wounding a schoolgirl at St Cuthbert’s College, Auckland, has not been discounted. Forensic experts have been unable to connect the orange Datsun Freeman hired over Queen’s Birthday with Miss Blades, but the man heading the Blades inquiry. Detective Inspector P. H. Berryman, said tonight that the police were still working on the theory. A device used overseas to help find bodies has been fitted to a helicopter, and will be used tomorrow morning.
