Light fault not found

A report that traffic lights at the St Asaph Street and Antigua Street intersection were all showing green simultaneously has been investigated by the Town Clerk (Mr J. H. Grey), but no record of the fault has been found. A Christchurch taxi-driver, Mr R. J. Hobbs, reported that on June 11 he had been involved in a near-fatal accident at this intersection because all of the lights had been on green. Mr Grey said that a careful investigation had been made. “The apparent doublegreen fault has not been seen a; this intersection by maintenance contractor’s staff at any time. Because of the switching logic in the signal controllers such an .occurrence is a very remote possibility. A search of City Council. Ministry of Transport, and contractor’s logs had been made but no record had been found of any other report of this fault, said Mr Grey.
