Dog registration

Sir, — As a city dweller and ratepayer I read with some alarm of the Christchurch City Council’s decision to employ two more dog rangers. My observations of stray dogs are, that those which cause the greatest nuisance to residents are either too timid or too cunning to be caught. To catch these animals will take more than the increase in staff. Before adding to the burden of the city ratepayer two more wage packets, 1 would suggest that the council should invest in two tranquiliser guns. The cost of these would represent only a fraction of the amount involved in employing more staff and would in all probability be far more effective. — Yours, etc., KNOCK OUT. June 27, 1975.
