New Zealand life

1 Sir, — Why must so.ne of us over-react When stung by a gadfly who, from affection, only wants to jolt us out of that cozy bed of complacency, like the man, who referred to his wife as “my best friend and severest critic”? Have you ever seen a “Come Alive” sticker which exhorted you to “Try Reading Books,” “Play the Flute," “Try Water Colour Painting” or just “Try Thinking”? There is much more to the enjoyment of life than merely playing sport. — Yours, etc., C. J. POTTS. June 19, 1975.

Sir, — The statement made by Mr H. C. Jorissen the outgoing (fortunately) Ambassador of the Netherlands may be his personal opinion but he is certainly using his status as a personal representative of Queen Juliana to voice it. In my opinion that is not exactly ethical. —Yours, etc., HARRY DE HOOG.

June 19, 1975.
