FRONT OF HOUSE

Miss G. M. Columbus models the new uniform approved yesterday by the Christchurch Town Hall board for front-of-house staff. The red trouser suits with blue blouses and neckties will be worn by the 46 women employed as usherettes and hostesses at the Town Hall, replacing those which have been in use for two years and a half and which are now showing signs

of wear and the frequent alteration to fit new employees. At $47 each, the new uniforms are less than twothirds of the cost of those they will replace. Manufactured by the company responsible for the Victory Hostess uniforms used at the Christchurch Commonwealth Games, the new uniforms are washable and will save money on dry-cleaning bills.
