Asian Games in jeopardy
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) ISLAMABAD. Pakistan has decided on economic grounds not to host the 1978 Asian Games, according to two newspapers in Islamabad. One source said that the Prime Minister (Zulfikar Ali Bhutto) had decided that Pakistan could not afford to stage the Games, and that an announcement might be made before the national budget was presented on June 7. But official sources insist the Government has not yet taken a final decision. Pakistan has already slashed the projected cost of the Games, awarded to Islamabad last year, from an estimated sl4lm to about $66.6m. Suggestions have been made for switching the Game* to Lahore.
