Although the Bishopdale ! community centre would not ’be finished by the due date,’ j September 30, it was likely l to be completed by the end I of October or in November. I the County Engineer (Mr A. J. W. Lamb) told the esti- • mates meeting of the Wai•mairi County Council on 'Thursday evening. The council decided to ’open the library next finanIcial year, and to apply for •authority to enable a loan iof $35,000 to be raised to !buy books for Bishopdale.
Estimates totalling $116,772 ;were approved for the libra-; kies, compared with a total j iof $98,474 spent last year.' ; The council did not accept a! ' suggestion that it adopt an; automated system for borrowed books.
