Unilever firms’ mixed results
(New Zealand Preus Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE. Two Australian offshoots of the giant British-based Unilever group have reported profit results. Unilever Australia Pty, Ltd, lifted its profit by 8.0 per cent to $4,115,483 in the year to December 31. but Rosella Foods Pty, Ltd, reported a profit drop of 18.3 per cent to $809,512 in the same period.

The aroun's ultimate hold- , > ing company is Unilever.: ■ Ltd of Britain. The market value of lj n ;i„ver Australia Pty, Ltd's ' investments fell from $33 556 tn $31,726 in the ’period. The only other' ! shareholder besides Unilever, of Britain, is Streets Ice ; Cream Pty. Ltd. which holds ’ 25 of the group’s 2m issued shares. The company’s stated profit included a $19,740 profit on the sale of fixed i assets (nil last year) and was after provision for tax which was $294,683 higher! at $4,028,620. Rosella also has sl6m is- , sued capital, but paid 18181.407 less for tax at’ $762,850. But the directors said that no loss was expected from this as the investments conicerned will be held to maturity. The company received a $300,000 dividend from Rexona Pty, Ltd, and a; $20,000 payout from Unile-I ver Australia Export Pty.! Ltd. At balance date, the com-: pany’s capital commitments• stood at $557,419. a fall of $592,401. The company has an issued capital of sl6m divided into 8 shares.
