Couple die in shooting
INVERCARGILL, May 18. A man and his wife died in a shooting in Invercargill on Saturday. Thev were
Mrs Aileen McMeeking, aged 42. and
Alexander John McMeeking, aged 49. an assistant stock manager.
The police were told at 1.20 a.m. that a man was
lying near the roadway outside a house in Lorn Street. They found that he had gunshot wounds, but was still alive. He was taken to Kew Hosnital, where he died at m<dday. The police found Mrs McMeekine dead in a bedroom of a nearbv house She. too. ha ,J gunshot wounds. No other person is being looked for in connection with the shootings. During Faster week-end. a sor of the McMeekings. Rona’d John, aged 16. was killed when his motor-cvcle left the Frankton Peninsula Road.
