A charge of attempting to niimidate a witness by threat.' nd an assault, has been laic ■gainst one of two men win ppeared in the Magistrate; Court vesterday for the taking of depositions on charges relat ing to an alleged rape. Timoti Herewini, aged 22, ha: been charged with attempting t< dissuade by threats and othei corrupt means. namely the offence of assault, Michae daurice Bailey from givin, evidence in a criminal matter He entered no plea. The offence is alleged to hav: •ccurred on Monday whei Herewini appeared for the takin if depositions on charges agains him of raping and attempting t< .ape a woman, aged 23. Handcuffed to Herewini at th< same hearing was Bunny Frida Harrison, aged 32, who is als .■harged with raping the womai md with assault. Both Herewini and Harrisoi were committed to the Suprem Court for trial on the charge vhen they pleaded not guilt ifter the depositions ended yes terday. Messrs C. H. Clemens and S 3, Boanas, Justices of the Peace emanded both defendants ii. custody.
