Bridge team trials

( Trials for the selection of a Canterbury bridge team to defend the Dunhill Masters interprovincial championship at Dunedin on July 26 and 27 resulted:— R. P. Kerr and J. R. Wignail, 82 (out of a possible 104), 1; R. J. Brightling and K. Wooles, 68, 2; Mesdames V. Bell and J. P. Mather, 60, 3; Miss J. Crabtree and W. A. Sadler, 57, 4; Mrs R. P. Kerr and S. M. Blackstock, 54, 5.

The first three pairs will iform the Canterbury team and they are expected to maintain the province’s record in the championship. Five of the players are internationals, while the sixth, Wooles, ranks as one of the most promising of the younger players.
