Arrests after bombing
C.N Z, Press Association) ! AUCKLAND. April' 10. Tyvo men aged 25 and a 23-year-old woman were arrested today and charged 1 with wilfully setting fire to rhe home of the Greek Consul (Mr Theo Phillips) in Auckland. Thev yvere also jointly charged under the Arms Act with being in possession oi an unlawful weapon — a Molotov' cocktail. A Molotov cocktail yvas hurled through a yvindow into the lounge of the consul’s; home tn Mission Bay about' 4 a.m. today. Mr Phillips, his wife ami two boys, aged 11 and seven, yvere in nearby bedrooms and were not injured. Flaming petrol swept across: the floor of their lounge as the bomb — a beer bottle with a wick — shattered on impact. A nearly new carpet, curtains, and table were scorched but the fire quickly burnt itself out. “I’m iust thankful the children didn’t get involved — they slept through it.” Mr Phillips said. Greek-horn Mr Phillips has been honorary consul in Auckland for 10 years. He is a naturalised New Zealander,
