'.V Z Press Assn—CopyrigM) MELBOURNE. China has asked Australia to support its entry into the International Lawn Tennis Federation—and agree to the expulsion of Taiwan. But the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia has already decided to put off its decision until June when it would have full advice from the I.L.T.F. The secretary (Mr J. Andrew) told the L.T.A.A. council in Melbourne that the 'letter from China was the I first officially received from I that nation by Australian teninis authorities The L.T.A.A. president (Mr XV. Reid) said China’s re- ' quest was backed m private letters from the Sri Lanka 'and Pakistan tennis associations. Mr Reid said it was not the first contact he had had with China over tennis matters. “I’ve had talks with the Director of Sport in the republic concerning a good-will visit by Australian players,”! he said. China said tn the letter that; it had applied for representtation on March 30. It also; asked that Taiwan should be; expelled. ] Australia was one of the; first non-Communist coun-1 tries to establish sports links; with China. An Australian| table tennis team went to; China in April, 1971. just after the United States broke the ice by sending the first team to Pekina.
