Bombs in Belfast
<V.Z Press Association) BELFAST. April 9. Republican guerrillas in Belfast last night blasted a shop and office block with three incendiary bombs in, direct retaliation for damage they alleged was inflicted by British troons in raids on two houses in Roman Catholic areas.
The bombing, for which responsibility was immediately claimed by the Provisional wing of the Irish Republican Army, has raised fresh fears that the I.R.A. cease-fire, now in its fifty-eighth day. may have ended. An I.R.A. statement last night said: “While the Army continues to treat workingclass homes with contempt, we reserve the right to retaliate.”
Two I.R.A. men imprisoned m Britain for their part in London bombings in 1973 were yesterday sent to serve the remainder of their sentences in Northern Ireland.
