The facts of the case! were briefly as follows —[ Arthur Robert Rannage Howard feigned drowning at! Sumner after heavily insurling himself, three weeks later a hand claimed to be’ Howard’s and severed by a‘ shark (but later found to be; a woman’s severed by a; saw) was found at Taylor’s Mistake. A few weeks later Howard was arrested in! Wellington after a brief residence in the Wairarapa.
