Waiau River
Sir, — Your correspondent! “Eco-sense” who replied to! my previous letter about the Waiau River might be inter-j ested in an overseas design of fish ladder which, encourages fish to enter a container which is then lifted to the top of the dam or weir — a case in which the ladder itself “escalates.” The Ministry of Works can be as good as political pressure! and local pressure allows,!
; but Ministers and members ■ of Parliament seem in rhe past to have made some bad I mistakes. “Eco-sense" might credit me with remembering I farmers’ interests and coni servation of nature's assets lin this matter. — Yours, I etc., ■ ARTHUR LUSH April 7, 1975.
