Radio New Zealand
Sir, — 1 join with the many- correspondents who have already written expressing their horror of the “revitalised radio” pro-
gramme foisted upon us be-i tween 7 and 8 a.m. daily. However, I take issue with your correspondent “Awake" who urges listeners to take political action at the pollsi in November, and presumably, to vote Mr Muldoon into power as a mark of protest. The whole purpose of the’ N.Z.B.C. re-struc-turing exercise was to make broadcasting completely independent of political control, so protest at the polling booth will be pointless. Anyway, why blame Mr Rowling for the excesses of our so-called “progressive” radio producers? These promotional people would still “do their thing” even if Mr Walker was again given the broadcasting portfolio to plav with. — Yours, etc.. SELWYN. April 8, 1975.
