Likes and dislikes

(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON.

Princess Anne said in an interview that the sporting event she most enjoyed watching was the Commonwealth Games in Christchurch.

Talking about her likes and dislikes in sports, the princess said that netball, which she played at school, “struck me as a rather daft game. Someone was always shouting or whistling at me, so I gave it up after the third go.” She does not like boxing either — “It would be better if all boxing could be confined to three rounds” — and she has no desire to be a woman jockey because horse racing “doesn’t really appeal to me in almost any shape or form.”

Princess Anne and her husband. Captain Mark Phillips, spoke of their hopes of getting into Britain’s equestrian team for the next Olympic Games. They will compete in the Badminton horse trials next month.

Captain Phillips talked of the dangers of the trials and said he thought many people went there “just to see blood.” Princess Anne said: “I’m very keen that nobody should be able to say: ‘You’re going to so-and-so because of who you are.’ So one does try to be worthy of any selection.”
