Exports not affected

(N.Z. Press Assn— Copyright) SYDNEY. New Zealand exports of clothing to Australia will not be affected by importing quotas on clothing imposed by the Australian Government. No decision has been finally made, however, on whether any future protection for Australia's clothing industry might affect New Zealand. Officials in Canberra said the import quotas had been applied selectively, and none had been applied to New Zealand. New Zealand exports more than $2.5m worth of clothing and accessories across the Tasman each year. The trade is useful to New Zealand, but does not represent a major share of Australia’s clothing and textile imports.
