Loss for Parun in tennis

<A Z PA Keuter—Copyright J LONDON. Onny Parun (New Zealand) lost his first-round match of the E 25.000 Rothmans International Trophy tennis tournament at the Royal Albert Hall, London, xesterday. to Zeljko Franuiovic (Yugoslavia), 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Franuiovic thus avenged his defeat by Parun in the Davis Cup a few years ago which clinched the tie for New Zealand. The other New Zealand player in the tournament, Brian Fairlie. beat Andrew Pattison (Rhodesia) when Pattison, who had been ill, retired when Fairlie was leading 4-2 in the first set. Pattison, the third seed, said he had been told by a doctor that he might have either influenza or food poisoning. “There was no way I could play on,” he said. He started the match hut was groggy and called a halt.
