Rangitata crash

An accident on State Highway lat 11 a.m. on Saturday, about six kilometres south of Rangitata, involved a truck and trailer, and two cars, one towing a trailer—but only the driver of one car was hurt.

He is Robert Divers, aged 60, of 156 Main South Road, Sockburn, who suffered a broken arm and was admitted to the Timaru Hospital. Mr Diver’s car. towing a trailer, was travelling south when it was in collision with the trailer of a truck, owned by Frew’s Transport, Ltd. of Darfield. which was travelling north. The car went under the truck trailer, which Tost its wheels and collapsed

The third vehicle, driven by Slyvia Anne Carpenter, of [35 Grahams Road, Ilam, with her children as passengers, successfully avoided the wreckage, including a sheep crate, but was struck by the trailer behind Mr Divers’s car. Mrs Carpenter and her children escaped injury’.
