‘Threat to Britain'

General Sir Walter Walker, an arch-opponent of Left-wing militancy ’ in Britain, has declared that a “fifth column” is out to destroy Government institutions and seize power. “This threat stems from power more sinister and more ruthless than anything the world has ever known ' before,” the general tolda i church group meeting. “Some politicians are now chained hand, foot and wallet to a small gang of militants who have collared the trade union machine.” Before his retirement, Sir Walter was Commander-in-Chief, Allied Forces, Northern Europe. He now heads a voluntary organisation, the Civil Assistance Group, which, while denying that it is a private army. . holds itself ready to back the [civil powers in times of ‘ national crisis.
“The moderates of this [country are determined to do everything possible, within the law, to ensure the protection of their own legitimate interests,” General [Walker said.
