BUILDING TASKS

Air Force to help A Royal New Zealand Air Force Iroquois helicopter from Wigram will go to Invercargill at the week-end to help with construction at two freezing works. It will lift 44ft roof trusses into place at the Ocean Beach freezing works and position about 20 refrigerating units for the Alliance Freezing Company. The request to the Ministry of Defence for the use of the Iroquois was made by the engineers responsible for the projects at both freezing works.

No New Zealand-regis-tered civilian helicopter is available to do the work. One which could do the lifting is in Fiji, and the only other suitable one is under exclusive contract to the oilrig project off the New Plymouth coast.

The Iroquois will leave for Invercargill on Friday to make a site survey at both works, and will do its lifting on Saturday or Sunday, depending on the weather.
