$400,000 on kitchen
Extensions to Air New Zealand’s kitchen at Christchurch Airport would cost about $400,000. and tenders would be called when the Civil Aviation Division’s share of the cost had been approved, the Christchurch City Council’s public utilities committee was told yesterday. The general manager of the airport (Mr A. 1. R.' Jamieson) said that the air-' line was pleased with the city engineer’s architectural; division’s plans for the! work. The contractors for the; terminal extensions were confident that they could “substantially complete” their work by May 31, pro-; viding they were not held 1 up by bad weather, additional work, or other delays! beyond their control, said' Mr Jamieson. This date was subject also to the performance of subcontractors. The most critical areas were the electrical work and the supply of > components. Some work, including the! installation of lifts, would carry on past May 31, but’ generally it would not in-.’ trude on the main public areas or affect the operation of the terminal.
