WELLINGTON, Feb. 26. The Court of Appeal’s decision in favour of Mr Stockton Rush over a decision made by the Prime Minister (Mr Rowling) while he was Minister of Finance showed that the latter’s action had been “a tragedy for the tourist industry," said the Opposition spokesman on tourism, Mr H. J. Walker (Papanui) today. Mr Rowling’s refusal to allow a Japanese company to take up shares in the Takaro Lodge luxury tourist resort in Fiordland had stopped Mi Rush from going ahead with what was prov ing one of the “finest, most' imaginative tourist developments in New Zealand ** Mr Walker said. “The Prime Minister’s shortsightedness or pettymindedness has forced this New Zealand benefactor into liquidation and a valuable tourist destination has been lost,” Mr Walker said.
