Explanation of paper find

r.V.Z. Preu AisociaUon)

WELLINGTON, Feb. 23.

“An omission by a constable to supervise the total disposal of rubbish resulted in papers from the Police Department being found at a Dunedin tip,” the Acting Commissioner of Police (Mr R. J. Walton) said in a statement.

Mr Walton’s statement follows the discovery of five sacks of police rubbish, including confidential information, at a Dunedin tip some weeks ago. Mr Walton said the constable was a new appointee and not fully aware of the requirements for disposing of rubbish.
