Pacific arts festival
The second South Pacific Arts Festival will be held at Rotorua in February or March next year. The decision was made at a South Pacific Commission workshop in Noumea early this month, according to a statement by the commission.
Hosts to the performers at Rotorua will be members of the Arawa tribe, who will house them in traditional centres in and around Rotorua. The themes for the festival will be song and dance, painting, and sculpture. Participating groups will come from the British Solomons, the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, Guam, New Caledonia, the New Hebrides, Tonga and the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands.
