GRANDSTAND So there is no cricket today on TV — to give the players a rest. May I express Imy , delight on behalf of (hundreds of bored housewives and tired mothers- It will mean a rest for us too. Not everyone can enthuse over two hours of that eternal game of bat and baII.—WAIT FOR IT.

I’m all for the N.Z.B.C. (catering for as wide a range of interests as possible, but 1 was very disappointed with “Grandstand” at the weekend. Presumably some people like watching motor-racing so they had to have a turn. But while some superb tennis was being played’at Auckland we had nothing but noisy cars and horse-racing. Fair enough to go to the races too — but why spend 20 minutes on each race, I going through the family histories of the horses? On Sunday the tennis was on but only' after we had all heard it on radio. They can’t please everyone but there must be many like me who felt that showing the race (was fine — if it was only 'the race — and who are (bored to tears by the follow ' the leader monotony of car I racing.—HOUSEWIFE. COUNTRY CALENDAR 1 am brassed off with ( “Country Calendar.” It shows how hard up the farmers 'are, etc. But what about the I sewer cleaners, the letterj press machinist, the motor (mechanics, the aircraft ; mechanics, etc. We have our | troubles, too, but they are (never publicised. Oh no, that (would upset the applecart and lead to inflation I Let the TV experts go forward and portray the struggles of the I working class.—R. BATTYE.
