A slimmer, trimmer Chief Inspector Barlow is back on 8.8. C. television this week in a new eight-part series of “Barlow.”

Actor Stratford Johns, who formerly played Barlow in “Z Cars,” “Softly. Softly” and “Barlow at Large,” has whittled his size down from fifteen stone to a mere twelve. And it was hard work, not dieting that did it, (he maintains.
