A work-out for Robalan

("The Press" Special Service) AVELLJ.NGTON. Robalan. still showing the after-effects of an infection which has troubled him since his return to Christchurch from the Auckland Cup meeting, had his final work-out yesterday morning for the AVellington Cup. His trainer, Denis Nyhan, worked him over 2400 metres, after giving him plenty of time to warm up. He was not after time, and his final mile took 2min 16.8 sec. Ha blew somewhat after the work-out. Robalan, after running second in the Auckland Cup, returned to Christchurch to win a mile race in under two minutes, but his preparation since has been hindered by the infection. Nyhan probably has not been able to give Robalan all Ihe work he would have liked, but he did well enough last week to warrant a trip north. Nyhan was not completely satisfied after yesterdays trial, but he still named Robalan as a cup runner. Robalan has built up quite a record on the raceway. He has not been beaten there for three years, and tomorrow he will be shooting for a hattrick of cup wins. Only Samantha has won two cups since the first AVellington Cup at night in 1960.
