Andrews on Apollo Eleven

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The Takanini jockey, B. F. Andrews, who resumed race riding at Avondale on Saturday after a seven-month break because of injury, will step virtually straight into one of the toughest arenas next week-end.

Andrews has taken the mount on one of his old favourites, Apollo Eleven, in the AVellington Cup. The owner. Mr J. D. Foote, offered him the ride, but Andrews did not decide to accept, the assignment until satisfied with his fitness.

Two years ago Apollo Eleven and Andrews finished an unlucky fifth in the AVellington Cup won by Rustler, which was prepared by Apollo Eleven’s new trainer, M. E. Ritchie, of Ellerslie.

But on either side of the Trentham event, Apollo Eleven and Andrews won the Auckland Cup and. the Sydney Cup. Andrews had one ride at Avondale finishing second on Soliloquy. He was happy with hjs form and said that his left wrist, which delayed his return to riding for so long, felt “remarkably good.” January 21 and 22.
