The appointment of the Rev. P. O. Williams as the new University of Canterbury chaplain was announced yesterday. Mr Williams, who is 27, is at present assistant curate at St Mary’s Anglican Church, Timaru. Bom and educated m Christchurch, Mr Williams graduated from the University of Canterbury in 1969, after which he taught for a short time at the Southland Boys’ High School before undertaking a period of theological study at the College of Resurrection at Murfield, a part of the University of Leeds. On his return to Christchurch in 1973, Mr Williams was a parish priest at Holy Trinity Church, Avonside, before taking his post at Timaru.
