Driving fines total $225
f.V.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND. Dec. 1. A youth driving away* from a school Rugby reunion hit a pregnant woman and her husband who were walking'along the road, Mr H. Y. Gilliand, S.M., was told on Friday. Sergeant D. W. Somerville said the man suffered a fac-i ial cu. requiring 12 stitches and his six-month pregnant wife was thrown into the air and cracked her ankle bone. Stephen John Sampson, aged 17, a mechanical technician, was fined a total of $225. He admitted charges of careless use, failing to ascertain whether anyone was injured after an accident, driving without lights, and driv-; ing with excess blood alcohol. He was convicted and fined $125 on the excess alcohol charge and disqualified from driving for nine months. On the careless use charge he was convicted and fined $4O and disqualified concurrently for six months. For driving without lights he was convicted and fined $2O and for failing to stop
he was convicted and fined $4O.
