Rumania to mediate
(N Z P A -Reuter—Copyright) BANGKOK, Dec. 1. Rumania has agreed to try to bring about a dialogue between Thailand and North Vietnam, the “Bangkok Post” reported today. Quoting an authoritative source, the English-language newspaper said that Bucharest’s good offices were offered during a recent visit there by Thailand’s Deputy Foreign Minister (Mr Chatichai Coonhaven). Official comment on the report was not immediately available. “The “Bangkok Post” said there would be no preconditions to a dialogue from either Bangkok or Hanoi — such as the withdrawal of North Vietnamese troops from Laos or United States forces from Thailand. But it said that the current schedule of withdrawal of 10,000 United States troops from Thailand by the end of this year could be speeded up after talks, and i full withdrawal of the remaining 20,000 could be I completed as quickly as possible next year.
