Shot man improves
The man shot in the stomach by the police in an incident on Friday night was yesterday reported to be “improving’’ in Christchurch Hospital. The man, Terence Eric Gilchrist, aged 28, of 133 Canon Street, St Albans, has been taken off the seriously-iU list.
The police said Mr Gilchrist was shot after he had menaced a member of the armed offenders squad with a loaded rifle. No charges yet been laid.
