Bus driver Sykes

Sir, — Tonight on television there was a programme called “Sykes”. It was a slapstick type comedy about public transport, which did carry a message. I hope all the officials of the different kinds of public transport throughout New Zealand took notice, as the programme hit the truth when it showed that the public want to be treated as human beings. All too often people are driven away to private transport by the ' indifferent and poor types of service provided, even if a few officials got the message from the programme and put 'it into practice I am sure there would be enough swing to public transport to help overcome our fuel shortages. — Yours, etc., A. J. G. October 23, 1974.
