SHIPPING NEWS
Th« backlog of container cargo in Britain destined to be shipped to Australia and New Zealand should disappear by the end of this year, according to a container shipping executive in London the New Zealand Press Association reports. Addressing an export conference in Winchester, the marketing manager for Associated Container Transportation 'Australia), Mr R. Davis, said that the situation would hopefully return to normal by the end of the year. He said that the volume of cargo would undoubtedly fall in the short term because of the currency devaluations and credit restrictions in Australia and New Zealand.
