STAKES UP $16,100
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The Railway Handicap, the principal sprint on the Auckland Racing Club calendar, will this year be worth $15,000, a rise of $3OOO over last season. Altogether $263,300. a rise of $16,100, will be paid out in stakes at the four-day meeting on December 26 and 28 and January 1 and 2. The other main Increases are t°the Royal Stakes, up $l5OO to ? 9 °00» the Ladies’ Mile, up $lOOO to $7OOO, the Nathan's Memorial, up $lOOO to $6OOO and the George Adams Handicap, up $2OOO to $10,200.
