‘Unbelievable trivia’

(N.Z. Presl Anociation) PALMERSTON NORTH, October 23. Today’s economic measures were “unbelievable trivia,”! said the deputy leader of the Social Credit Political League (Mr L. W. Hunter). “The compulsory savings scheme in unworkable, and will antagonise people when their co-operation is sought,” he said. “Nothing is being done about rising individual and national debt, rising prices, the lack of income of farmers, or failing confidence in manufacturing production. “Any definite proposal not to allow a wage increase will cause industrial resentment unless accompanied by a reduction in personal incometax to compensate people for rising prices,” Mr Hunter said. The league’s leader, Mr B. C. Beetham, of Hamilton, could not be contacted for comment today.
