OBITUARY Mrs A. J. Curtis

Mrs Alice Julia Curtis died in hospital in Christchurch on Sunday at the age of 102. Mrs Curtis, who attributed her long life to plenty of hard work, a sense of humour, and the ability to keep herself occupied, was born at Swan River, Western

Australia on February 21, 1872. She was the youngest of nine children. At the turn of the century she came to New Zealand to marry an English-born commercial traveller. She was widowed when her two sons were aged 10 and 12, and worked as a seamstress at Christchurch Hospital for many j'ears.

Mrs Curtis is survived by 1 two sons, six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
