Narrow margins in horse classes
Only two points separate the first and second horses and ponies in the Peerless points prizo at the RiccartonFendalton Jumping Show, the last of the five events on the Canterbury mini-circuit. Competition was very keen, and with record entries, the final placings were not known until the last class in each section. Once again the jumping in the 14.2 pony ring was of a high standard in spite of the very hard ground at Kennels Park. Tango, ridden by Mrs A. Lintott iKaiapoii, won the horse section, with three wins for the day, from the runner-up last year, Jane Eyre <Mrs S. Toppi. Tango scored 35, and Jane Eyre, 33. The L 4.2 division was won by Moonglow, ridden by J. Foster (Springston, 25 points), clcialy followed by D. Topp on Sunset, with 23 points. The title-holder, Redwood <J. McClintock, Cheviot', was again successful in the 13.2 class by two points from Eureka, ridden by H. Page < Loburn). Results:—
