(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. Plans to reduce class sizes in primary schools were discussed by members of the Educational Institute and the Minister of Education (Mr Amos) today. The president of the institute (Mr R. I. Goldsmith) said he met the Minister to discuss a one-to-20 staff-pupil ratio in junior classes, and a one-to-30 ratio in classes above standard one. , The Minister had agreed on the need for planning sessions, he said, and these would begin immediately. Mr Goldsmith said he thought that it would take up to 10 years to reduce class sizes to the levels proposed.
