Bored to teas
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) LONDON, Oct. 2. Britons are being driven to drink by intensive campaigning on television for the General Election to be held on October 10.
When party political telecasts make their nightly appearance, some viewers take refuge in the nearest bar. Others are content to retreat to the kitchen, and make tea.
A spokesman for the Electricity Generating Board said the thousands of people making tea and cooking snacks while these broadcasts were on were straining electricity supplies.
The president of the North England Innkeepers Association commented: “There has been an invasion each night since the campaign started. The politicians and political commentators are boring the pants off people.”
