Colour TV for Marylands

About 100 boys at the St John of God special school, Mary lands, will soon be able; to enjoy watching colour television. Mr J. Collins, who is in his late seventies and lives at the Kynnersley Home, Westport, won the colour television set in a Plunket Society raffle, and because of his “love of children” wanted to give it to the school. Mr Collins visited the school earlier this year when in Christchurch and was most impressed with the work being done there for handicapped children. The prior of the school (the Rev. Brother Moloney) said yesterday that he knew very little about it as yet, apart from a telephone cal! he received on Saturday. “It will be tremendous for the boys, and will be great recreation and education,” he said. “They rely tremendously on visual aids. It will be a great help.”
