Translator for Okains Bay
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. Television viewers in the Okains Bay area of Banks Peninsula can look forward ito an early improvement in television reception, the Minister of Health and member of Parliament for Lyttelton (Mr McGuigan) reports. He said he had been concerned about the poor suffered by Okains Bay residents and had taken up the matter with the Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Douglas). The Minister had advised that the Broadcasting Corporation planned to install a permanent translator to serve Okains Bay, said Mr McGuigan. This could be expected to overcome present reception problems. “The corporation has been negotiating for the use of a site and access route,” he I said. “This was delayed by unfortunate circumstances. However, the N.Z.B.C. expects now that the legal formalities will soon be concluded.” Development of the site would begin immediately access was available and, as the station was not a large project, installation would be completed soon after the site was ready, said Mr McGuigan.
