Bus route extended
Extension of the Beckenham bus route to include Bowenvale Avenue, Wedgewood Road, and Lansdowne Terrace was approved by the Christchurch Transport Board yesterday. The route had been extended into Centaurus Road in July, the works and traffic committee’s report said, but it was now felt that a service deeper into Bowenvale Valley was necessary, and because of the lack of a suitable turning area, it was recommended that the bus run around the block. No modifications would be needed to the present timetable for the service, the report said.
