Geriatric wing nearly finished
The 42-bed extension at the Nurse Maude Memorial Hospital in McDougall Avenue, St Albans, has almost been completed and will be opened by the GovernorGeneral (Sir' Denis Blundell) on November 19. The extension, which has eight four-bed wards, eight single wards, and one twobed ward, cast about $500,000. It was financed by a Government subsidy and public gifts over several years. Designed for geriatric patients, it will bring the number of beds in the hospital to 76. It is hoped that patients will move into the wing within a fortnight. In addition to the wards, the extension has lounges, sitting rooms, and occupatio-nal-therapy and physiotherapy facilities.
