Canoeing to collect
An Aranui Scout Group “canoeathon” yesterday at Kerrs Reach raised about $7OO towards the cost of a new scout den. Fifty boys and 20 parents each paddled five miles in the fund-raising effort. An 800 m stretch of the river from the Avon Rowing Club's building was used, and canoes were lent by the Canterbury Canoe Club. , The money will go toj wards the building of a | $20,000 den at Cuthberts i Green.
