“Star Trek”

“Star Trek” — the show that refused to die — returns in animated form, featuring the voices of seven of the original cast. William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley are re-creat-ing their roles of Captain Kirk, Mr Spock and Dr McCoy while also returning are Nichelie Nichols as Lieutenant Uhura, James Doohan as “Scotty,” George Takei as Lieutenant Sulu and Majel Barret as Nurse Chapel. Gene Roddenberry, creator of “Star Trek” says “animation gives us a far greater range of creativity, especially in the areas of special effects and in the introduction of new planets and aliens.” Several script writers from the original series have been signed to write scripts for this new version and many of the scripts are developments of what was begun earlier. “Star Trek” begins screening at 5.25 p.m. on Saturday.
